Background
Candi Carter is the Chief Content Officer, Content Creator, and Executive Producer. From 2022 to 2024, Carter joined the e-commerce production company, Knocking.com, as Chief Content Officer. Before this role, Carter was an executive producer/showrunner for ABC and had a first-look development deal with ABC Entertainment. Carter joined The Tamron Hall Show as Executive Producer and Showrunner in March 2020, one week before New York shut down for COVID. The show is now in its third season. Under Carter’s supervision, Tamron Hall Show received three nominations for the 2021 Daytime Emmys: "Best Informative Talk Show", "Best Informative Talk Show Host", "Outstanding Live and Direct-to-Tape Sound Mixing," and NAACP Image Award nominations. Prior to joining Tamron Hall, Carter served as Executive Producer of the iconic daytime TV show, The View, for five seasons. During her tenure, The View was inducted into the Broadcasting Hall of Fame and won an Emmy Award in 2020 for "Best Informative Talk Show."
Carter has worked as a television producer for more than 25 years. She began her career at CNN in Atlanta and quickly moved on to produce programming specials for WISN-TV, the ABC affiliate in Milwaukee, where she won her first Emmy Award. In 1995, Carter joined The Oprah Winfrey Show in Chicago, where she spent 15 years producing some of the most memorable hours of television in daytime. In the show’s 25th and final season, Carter produced the highest-rated Oprah show in more than six years, the critically acclaimed Emmy Award-winning episodes "An Oprah Show Two-Day Event: 200 Molested Men Come Forward". Her work was also showcased on Season 25: Oprah Behind the Scenes airing on OWN, for which Carter was a featured producer.
When The Oprah Winfrey Show ended its historic run in 2011, Carter raised capital and co-founded New Chapter Entertainment. As CEO, her Chicago-based production company originated, developed, and produced unscripted TV shows for broadcast, cable, syndication, and new media. During that three-year run, Carter launched two talk shows for Telepictures TV (a division of Warner Brothers) – Just Keke on BET and Ice & Coco on FOX. She also developed and executive produced presentations, pilots, and shows for HGTV, Lifetime, Cooking Channel, Telepictures TV, TV One, BET, FOX, OWN, Tyler Perry Studios, and PBS.

In her spare time, Carter is dedicated to building opportunities for children and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Inspired by her 20-year-old son, Carter helps raise awareness for organizations serving the disability community and finding ways to promote inclusion in every aspect of society. She created an organization called, "We've Got Friends", a non-profit dedicated to helping teens with special needs develop friend groups of their own. “We've Got Friends” currently runs hangouts in New Jersey and New York serving more than 100 families.
Carter is also a member of several professional organizations including The Producers Guild, NY Women in Film and Television, The National Association of Black Journalists, The Links Incorporated, and Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc. She lives in New Jersey with her husband and two children.
