Hall empowered another Black woman to lead her show, tapping Candi Carter as showrunner and executive producer.
Daytime talk show "Tamron Hall" is making some behind-the-scenes changes. Candi Carter, who has spent the past five years as an executive producer on "The View," will take over for Talia Parkinson-Jones as showrunner of the topical daytime talk show hosted by "Today" and MSNBC veteran Hall.
The network plans to make the announcement on Tuesday, along with naming Candi Carter as the show’s first African American executive producer effective immediately.
ABC has renewed The View for an epic 20th season. Though the show’s panel — Joy Behar, Whoopi Goldberg, Paula Faris, Candace Cameron-Bure, Michelle Collins and Raven-Symone — reportedly remains unchanged, interim showrunner Candi Carter (The Oprah Winfrey Show) has been named executive producer of the talk show, becoming the first African American female to do so. Carter joins the ranks of top black TV showrunners such as Shonda Rhimes and Lee Daniels.
Black Girl Magic is in full swing over at ABC. After announcing last week Channing Dungey is the network’s first African-American woman president, it’s also being reported daytime talk show The View has been renewed for its 20th season, and the interim show runner Candi Carter will be the show’s first black female executive producer.
Candi Carter of "The Oprah Winfrey Show" and "Just Keke" will serve as exec producer on the daytime talker, which hails from Telepictures Productions.
Candi Carter ("The Oprah Winfrey Show," CEO, New Chapter Entertainment) and Andrew Scher ("Dr. Phil," "Queen Latifah," "Ricki Lake") have been tapped as showrunners and Executive Producers alongside Executive Producer Judge Greg Mathis ("Judge Mathis").

ABC News announced this morning it was bringing back The View for a 20th season. Also headlined in today’s announcement was news that Candi Carter, who has been interim showrunner since September, has been named EP, effective immediately.
ABC’s The View was honored as part of this year’s class, and its stars, past and present, were in attendance at the event.

Ice & Coco, starring actor and rapper Ice-T and his model wife Coco, is the latest talk show concept to get a test run on selected Fox owned TV stations in New York, Los Angeles and a few other markets, it was announced Monday by Fox Television Stations and Warner Bros.The show is exec produced by Candi Carter and is produced by Warner Bros. Telepictures Productions.
It was also announced that joining Judge Greg Mathis (pictured) as Executive Producers of the show will be Candi Carter ("The Oprah Winfrey Show," CEO, New Chapter Entertainment).
